"Style is not neutral; it gives moral directions."
—Martin Amis
In Rajasthani, "Hukum" (हुकुम) is a term of respect and reverence, used to address those of higher stature—kings, nobles, elders, and those deserving of profound respect. It conveys not just a command, but an honor, an acknowledgment of the significance of the one addressed. At its core, Hukum celebrates deference, tradition, and the timeless exchange between creator and connoisseur.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
HUKӒM like the word suggests, is a conduct. Shaped by formative encounters, cultural touchstones, spirited desires, and some extraordinary people & places, this point of view comes to life through our experiments with textiles and textures that find virtue in diligence.
.
There is an idea of a collective in the name HUKӒM, embodying acknowledgement and appreciation. A shared way of life in motion. We work with a deep sentimentality for a life well lived, through our exploration of personal narratives and transformative techniques. We engage with tradition as a living narrative, eschewing nostalgia to celebrate the rich dialogue between history and the future.
At our core, HUKӒM celebrates tradition, and the timeless exchange between creator and connoisseur.

Our Approach
At HUKӒM, we work towards enduring value. Our creations result from impeccable craftsmanship and thoughtfulness. Our singular aim is to learn our materials and elevate them. We thrive to design with purpose, sophistication, intent, and lasting beauty.
At our house integrity is about timelessness and forward-thinking, with a delicate balance of tradition and modernity.
We know that luxury is a relationship—not just with the pieces we craft, but with the people who wear them. We say with our work we weave together two threads: the meticulous work of the artisan and the discerning sensibility of the wearer. A quiet yet memorable relationship.

A Shared Vision
HUKӒM is the result of a creative partnership between two sisters, Richa and Riya, whose complementary strengths bring a unique perspective to the brand. Richa, an architect with a deep appreciation for structure, culture, and storytelling, approaches design with a respect for history and craftsmanship. Her work is driven by a rigorous pursuit of cleverly constructed pieces with a narrative, creating a bridge between the past and the present.
Riya, a fashion designer and stylist, infuses the brand with an experimental spirit, constantly drawing inspiration from her love of culture, music, and innovation. Her perfectionist approach pushes the boundaries of design, creating pieces that speak to individuality while maintaining relevance.
Both sisters are united by the philosophy that"your style is the mirror of your mind,"and it is this belief that drives their commitment to creating pieces that reflect personal identity, quality, and artistry. The foundation of HUKӒM is grounded in a family legacy steeped in the world of textiles—beginning with their great-great-grandfather, who worked with royal courts, to their grandmother, the first female entrepreneur in the family, and their father, whose expertise in textile engineering continues to inspire their work.
